The premise of the game starts off simple. You are the newest member of a small three person colony on the planet of Viridis Primus tasked with starting up a small farm plot to help prove the colony is viable. From there you are pushed to wander around chat with the NPCs as you unlock them and work on various tasks both assigned to you and of your own choosing. As this progresses you work your way outward from the colony as you find more farm plots and gather more materials to futher help build up the colony.
