There is a new mode at this version named the Konquest mode. At this mode, You can get primary skills as tutorial. It mixes the story with learning skills. When you win a battle at this game, Your coins get increased. Players can purchase new items for the main character. New fighters would be unlocked too by these coins.

Raiden, Johnny Cage, Kitana and Kung Lao are some of them. This version of Mortal Kombat got good meta score (81/100) at 2002 from the critics. Although it hasn’t released on Steam, It supports local co-op mode to play with your friends.
